A comprehensive approach to adolescent literacy intervention

RECENT RESEARCH REVEALS that, in addition to comprehension challenges, a large number of adolescent struggling readers also struggle with word-level reading skills. Scholastic Inc has developed two tiers of reading interventions to support pupils across this spectrum.

What we know
● Adolescent struggling readers need varying levels of support.
● READ 180 is effective in raising the achievement of struggling adolescent readers, particularly those reading approximately two years below level.
● Tier III interventions are needed for high-risk readers who need intensive focus on foundational reading skills either before, or in addition to, Tier II interventions.
